A dependency hearing gives the Florida Department of Children and Families the right to remove your children from your home. You may think you’re a good parent and this could never happen to you, but a well-meaning teacher who sees an injury or an ex-spouse who makes a false complaint could easily bring them to your door. When a complaint is filed, you must act quickly. To prevent child abuse, the DCF has to take all complaints seriously and find a fast resolution.
Like other court proceedings, you have the right to assert your rights and argue for what’s best for your family. You probably do not want to try to handle this stressful process on your own because being unfamiliar with the system or making a legal mistake could mean your children will be removed from your home. I will help you to show the judge what really happened and that your children are better off remaining in your care. I will also help you to take any other appropriate action against false or malicious claims.
If you’ve been contacted by the DCF or believe someone else has or will contact them about your children, call my Miami-Dade office now.
